Councilmember Mike Carroll was appointed to the Irvine City Council on May 14, 2019. Prior to his appointment, he served as Vice Chair of the Irvine Planning Commission, and previously served as Chair of the Community Services Commission (2016) and as Community Services Commissioner (2012-2015). Mr. Carroll is a member of the Irvine Certified Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Mr. Carroll is the City of Irvine’s representative to the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), the nation’s largest Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Mr. Carroll is a practicing corporate / transactional attorney and the Co-Founder of CorpGen Counsel, a boutique legal practice based in Irvine. Prior to establishing his own firm, he was Senior Vice President, Chief Compliance Officer, and General Counsel of a NASDAQ-traded public company, Senior Counsel of a NYSE-traded real estate investment trust, and practiced law at a major international law firm in New York. Mr. Carroll is an Irvine Public Schools Foundation President’s Circle member and has been a contributing writer to The Orange County Register, Orange Coast Magazine, Journal of the Association of Corporate Counsel, and The Metropolitan Corporate Counsel.
He is a former board member of the Orange County Press Club, OneOC (formerly Volunteer Center of Orange County), and Child Aid, the former President of the Vista Verde K-8 School Foundation, and the recipient of the President’s Volunteer Service Award for his pro bono representation of the Orange County Rescue Mission and its Village of Hope. Mr. Carroll lives in Irvine with his wife and two daughters.
